one of my favorite places...

Here is a little peek into one of my favorite places…

It’s called Antiques Plus and it’s about a 40 minute drive from where I grew up in Northern New Brunswick. Each time I visit my folks (as I am this long weekend), we take a mini road trip to spend some time here. And I could spend a lot of time here.

This place is huge. By huge, I mean the largest antiques store in Atlantic Canada. I mean approx 28,000 square feet. This used to be an old poultry farm. Now, it’s filled with wonderful antiques and collectables from all over the world. Clean, tidy and well-organized, it’s a great place to roam…and to wonder about where things came from and the stories each piece must carry.

Tables, chairs of all shapes and sizes, armoires, bed frames, dressers, vanities, cabinets and more in a large variety of styles. Antique and vintage dishes and glassware, jewlery, records, lamps, frames, stained glass windows, radios, and an unending list of other antiques and collectables.

Regular readers of just a little rouge will know that many of my “finds” from here have ended up on the pages of this blog…my favorite bedside lamps, the antique frame that now houses my jewelry, some of my collection of milk glass, and the teacup and saucer that are exactly like my Grammy had, all came from Antiques Plus.

Today, there were more great "finds". I added to my collection of milk glass with a lovely little jar and my mom bought pretty vintage white cloth napkins.

I also have my next project all picked out. I spied a fantastic settee. In the spirit of my love of adding a modern twist to an older traditional item, I’m envisioning this piece – that’s in wonderful shape – with a high gloss black finish and gray velvet upholstery. It will be absolutely divine in my living room.

My only hope is that it hasn’t been scooped up before my folks can go back to pick it up in the van before their next trip to Halifax in May…but, like any other wonderful place offering one of a kind pieces, I know I’m taking my chances…

I wonder if we have time to go back tomorrow...hmmmmm.

If you ever find yourself in the area, be sure to stop in. I promise it's worth it. The street address is 26 Quinn Road, Belledune, NB. It’s opened in the off season on Saturdays and Sundays only, so plan accordingly.

And, if you get lost, just ask anyone in the area…they’ll be sure to know where it is.
